Key Information

CODE OF CONDUCT

Expectations of Children

1.Respect other people's culture, race, background, gender and ability. Also, respect the property of the school and other people.

2. Be truthful and honest.

3. Co-operate with other children and adults.

4. Wear school uniform including sensible shoes and appropriate PE kit.

5.Work to the best of their ability. Children should share concerns as well as achievements.

6.Move around the building quietly and with care.

Expectations of Staff, Parents and Visitors

1. Have high expectations of all children.

2. Be positive towards the children and praise all achievements.

3. Show respect towards the culture, race, background and gender of children and adults.

4. Set a good example by their own behaviour.

5. When a child behaves in an inappropriate manner, staff should try to explain why he/she is being corrected, so that they can learn from mistakes. Parents and visitors should report any behaviour incident to staff.

6. Take time to listen to children. Be aware of the tone of voice and body language you use, as threatening behaviour undermines self-esteem.

The children and staff have just reviewed the Code of Conduct and the updated version will be presented next term.

Internet Safety

At Sir John Cass's Foundation Primary school we take the issue of child safety on the internet very seriously and we operate the following policy on our website to ensure the privacy and safety of pupils at school:

where pupils are named, only their first names are given;
where a pupil is named, no photograph of that pupil is displayed;
where a photograph is used which shows a pupil, no name is displayed.

By observing these points, we ensure that visitors to our school website cannot link images of pupils to the names of pupils. When choosing photographs for the website, we are mindful of the way pupils may appear in them, and we will not include images which are in any way inappropriate, such as close-up portrait shots of individual pupils.
