Dare Graduation 2015

24/6/2015

We held our annual Dare Graduation today. This valuable initiative involves practicing police officers working directly with our Year 5 to work through a programme of life skills, problem solving and drug resistance education.

The children worked really well this year and every child managed to Graduate from the programme. Today we were joined by representatives of City of London police, parents and carers. Children were given a Dare t-shirt, a commemorative pin and a certificate.

We all gave them three cheers as they became graduates of the Dare programme, 2015. Well done Class 5!

We've been enjoying a wonderful new weekly activity in the Children's Centre. Each Monday morning our babies have been making music as part of a new rhythm and beats session. If you have an under 2-year old, come along and join in the fun.

Visit from Caunton Dean Hole

19/6/2015

We welcomed visitors from Caunton Dean Hole Primary School this week. Children in Class 5 have been taking part in a project with this small rural primary school. We have sent letters to each other to find out more about the places we live in and the schools we attend. During their visit the children went to various landmarks around the City accompanied by a City walking guide. We then returned to school for a barbecue on the roof.

Later in the term children from Sir John Cass will visit Caunton and learn more about rural life. We plan to visit a working dairy farm and learn more about how milk is produced. We will then visit Dean Hole school and in the afternoon we’ll be going pond dipping.

This initiative has been really successful and the children very much enjoyed their new experiences this week. Children from both settings are learning about each other and forming new friendships.
