![]() Richard Foley- Chief Executive and Clerk of Sir John Cass’s Foundation visited school this week to see how a generous grant from Sir John Cass’s Foundation was being used. The Foundation recently agreed to support our Making learning real project which involves updating all teaching spaces with the latest interactive technology. The grant—a total of £81,558 - spread over two years will enable the school to make improvements to every teaching and learning space– fitting them out with the latest smart board interactive touch screens and document cameras called visualisers. These cameras are able to capture and display real-time images which can then be shared with the whole class. They are proven to be highly effective when sharing work, responding to feedback or demonstrating and explaining concepts to classes. This project also helps the school to improve the resource storage in classrooms as the touchscreens are mounted on high quality bespoke cupboards, totally transforming the teaching space in each year group. Sir John Cass’s Foundation is the trustee of our school and over the years has funded various projects including our minibus and installation of the CCTV cameras. We are particularly grateful for this generous financial support especially at a time when school budgets are being squeezed. We look forward to working with Sir John Cass’s Foundation in the years to come to enable our school to offer the best possible facilities, resources and education for every young Cassian. At Cass, we’re very pleased to report that the children performed exceptionally well in their assessments. A massive 89% of children were at or above the expected standard in reading, mathematics, spelling and grammar combined– nearly 40% above the national average. In Mathematics every single child reached the expected standard in their tests– 100%! We scored 93% in reading and 96% in maths at or above the expected standard. 20-30% above the national average in individual subjects.
The performance of the children is testament to the talented teaching team, but most of all it’s down to each and every child who was dedicated, hard working and mature throughout year 6. They should be very proud indeed of their achievements this year. One of our Year 5 pupils was selected as Best in School in the Tower Hamlets Schools Library Service writing competition. You can find her winning poem in the book at the top of this post. Well done!
