Harvest Festival

21/10/2017

Thank you for your generosity in donating gifts for our Harvest Festival. We held our Church Service at St Botolph’s yesterday and the children gathered to say prayers and sing in thanks for the gift of food! We will be sharing the donations with the Tower Hamlets Food bank who will be collecting things from school next week. That does give you a few more days to bring in your donations if you missed the deadline. The display is on the landing outside the main hall if you would like to have a look.

The story we explored in our Service was about a farmer planting seeds. He planted four seeds– one was in the hot sun, it wilted and died, one had no space to spread it’s roots, another was enveloped by another plant. The fourth seed did well because it had just the right spot, and just the right nourishment.

In the Bible there is a book called the Book of Psalms. These are poems and songs that were written thousands of years ago. Psalm 1 includes these words:
Happy are those…
who find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord…
They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
that bear fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves do not dry up

For Christians, Harvest is also about the Fruit of the Spirit—the good things that grow in our lives when they are rooted in God’s word.

What fruits of the spirit can you think of?

Which ones are growing in your lives? We’re going to be thinking about those questions in our assemblies next week in school.

With thanks,

Mr T Wilson | Headteacher
